Mental Balloon



A rectangular board is standing upright on a table. In the board there are four large holes in which small inflated balloons of different colors are lodged. The performer declares that he has pasted a prediction label on the rear side of the board just under the colored balloons, which he wishes to save. The prediction label has a bold white arrow on a colored background. Any three spectators then choose a balloon color. They are free choices no color is forced. As each color is called the performer bursts the balloon with that color using either a pointed rod or a lit cigarette. In the end only the balloon that nobody has nominated remains. The performer (without any clumsy moves) turns the board around to show the label (with a white arrow on a colored background that matches with the color of the balloon) fixed to the back, just under the unharmed balloon.

This classic effect, invented by Benson Dulay, has been updated using modern plastic glasses that resemble crystal cut glass. The glasses are durable and easy to care for. Multum In Parvo literally means Much In Little. The magician starts out displaying five differently sized glasses, which are lined up from smallest to largest and are all shown to be empty. The smallest glass is picked up and filled with milk from a pint size milk carton. The small glass is displayed, and the magician looks at the glass and shakes his head, because he wants a bigger glass of milk. Unfortunately, there is no more milk in the milk carton. So instead, the magician pours the milk from the smallest glass into the next bigger glass in the line up. The milk fills the glass to the top! The magician takes this glass and fills up the next biggest glass in the line up, and it also fills the glass to the top! The milk is seemingly multiplying from glass to glass. This is repeated all the way up to the largest glass. The magician has filled up the largest glass from a tiny glass of milk! Now with the largest glass filled, he gives a big smile and then starts to fill the four empty glasses up from the largest down to the smallest. The largest glass fills up the other four glasses! A simple game of chance. With a four inch spike. Four inches of cold, hard steel ground to a point, and rising vertically from a solid wooden base. The performer can have his back turned, be blindfolded, or even leave the room while the spectator places the spike into one block (free choice). The spectator is then instructed to cover all the wooden blocks with styrofoam cups. The performer walks over to the three cups and instantly smashes his hand on two, leaving the cup with the spike underneath untouched! An incredible feat of mentalism! Ideal for stage, cabaret, cruises, and other larger venues, this hand - crafted beauty is a versatile magic prop that can be played for comedy or high drama!
